HMONG LAOS

Hmong Laos usually celebrate their new year in mid-November or early December, the end of the month following the harvest of rice. The celebration begins with hu plig and noj tsiab noj txhu. Noj tsiab noj txhu, known commonly as noj peb caug, is comparable to Thanksgiving in the US tradition. Depending on the status of the host, those invited to the feast could include the whole village.
